Each day, our rigging specialists face projects that pose enormous challenges. From moving super-sized items, often weighing nearly unbelievable amounts, to tearing down, moving, and re-installing hyper-specialized medical equipment, we’ve pretty much seen it all. It’s no surprise then that when Indiana University gave us a call about removing all radioactive components from their Proton Therapy Center in Bloomington, we didn’t even hesitate to take on the project.
Over the years, our team of rigging, engineering, and transportation specialists have become well known for their ability to take on very large, complex projects involving extraordinarily sensitive—and often unusually heavy—equipment. Medical centers and equipment manufacturers around the country frequently contract us to move and install equipment such as the S250 Proton Therapy System we recently moved for Mevion Medical Systems.
Recently, we were called on to move a cyclotron out of its home building for transport to a different location. Working within the tight quarters of a healthcare facility is never easy, especially when you’re moving a hyper-sensitive piece of equipment that happens to be very big, and very, very heavy. However, as you’ll see in the video series below, our rigging team has the right tools, and the right experience to get the job done correctly and safely, every time.
Virtually every day we’re involved with projects where the word “big” is an understatement. We’re frequently called on to move impossibly large objects into and out of tight spaces, up and down stories of high rise buildings, and everywhere in between, which means that we need some pretty heavy duty tools and equipment. Of all of our oversized and extraordinarily capable equipment, our newly acquired Hoist FR 40/60 forklift may prove to be one of our most useful.
